GREEN HEART FOUNDATION
We are in deep community service, spanning decades of informal but impactful initiatives by families and individuals dedicated to positive change. This foundation of grassroots work laid the groundwork for what would become Green Heart Foundation.
Our commitment to indigenous peoples has always been at our core. Years of experience showed us how these communities, often the most vulnerable during disasters, struggle to recover without proper support. The devastating floods of Typhoon Tisoy in 2019 and Typhoon Ulysses in 2020 across Cagayan Valley became turning points in our mission. As we witnessed indigenous communities repeatedly bearing the brunt of natural disasters, with limited means for recovery, our relief efforts evolved into more comprehensive support programs.
When COVID-19 struck, adding another layer of challenge to already vulnerable communities, we expanded our reach. We launched initiatives like ARTKULTUR to help children cope with isolation while developing their talents, ensuring that even during crisis, communities could find ways to grow and thrive.
These experiences – from indigenous peoples’ support to disaster response and youth development – highlighted the importance of structured, sustainable community assistance. In 2022, amidst the pandemic’s challenges, we formally registered Green Heart Foundation, transforming years of dedicated community service into an organization capable of creating broader, more lasting impact.
Today, Green Heart Foundation continues this legacy through focused programs in environmental conservation, disaster preparedness, indigenous peoples’ support, and youth development. Our work with indigenous communities remains central to our mission, recognizing their unique needs during calamities and their crucial role in environmental stewardship.
What began as individual acts of service has evolved into a foundation committed to building resilient communities, preserving cultural heritage, and ensuring indigenous peoples have the support they need to not just survive disasters, but thrive beyond them. Our story is one of growth, adaptation, and unwavering dedication to those who need us most.
